My 5 Resolutions in Decor for 2018
Hey you, long time no see!
I know I’ve been gone for about two weeks now, which I’m going to explain why in a future blog post. But today I’m back to talk about my New Year’s Resolutions.
Well, not the traditional resolutions that people make in the beginning of every year. Those I’ve already mentioned in a previous post. This time I want to show you guys my 5 Resolutions in Decor for 2018.
I moved into my new apartment about a year ago and to this day the place is still a work in progress. So this year, I made it my mission to update my decor with things that I’ve dreaming about for a while. Hope this inspires you to add some new stuff to your home decor too!
1- Add an accent piece to the decor.
Nothing says fancy more than a piece of velvet furniture. I’m planning on swapping my old couch for a velvet blue one, but if you’re not willing to buy a whole new couch, a chair will do the trick.
Another great way to add to your decor (and even make your place look bigger is by adding a full length mirror. The one I linked has this beautiful Morrocan inspired detail, that is so gorgeous that I might get it for my place.
If you can’t fit anymore furniture another way to add some life to your house, is by adding plants and flowers. That said, if you’re like me and can’t keep plants alive for more than a week, fear not, because I just linked this GORG faux floral centerpiece that you will give any table a huge upgrade.
2 - Pillows and throws are friends
I’m a HUGE pillow fan. Chris keeps asking me if I really need to get another pillowcase/pillow every single time we have to buy something for the house, but I just can’t help it. Both pillows and throws just add coziness, and warmth to any house and they totally set the mood of your place.
3 - Tapestry will make your house look more put together
You wouldn’t believe how much of a difference a rug can make in home decor - for better or worse. The right size and pattern rug will make your space look bigger and chic. I love this blue one from Wayfair because it just screams luxury tapestry to me. The amazing part is that the price is super reasonable.
4 - Vase sets always add an extra touch
Don’t live your main and side tables empty. By adding vase sets to your home decor, you’ll make your house look a lot more put together and elegant. The other cool thing about these set is that you don’t have to add plants to them. Tip: place them on top of a stack of books for Pinterest-esque vibes.
5 - Upgrade the Bar Cart.
I currently have a wicker vanity table turned into a bar cart, which I love because it give my living room a little rustic feel and goes really well with my hanging plants. However, I’m planning on upgrading it to a real bar cart as soon I have a money chance. So I’ve been eyeing these super cute metal bar carts, because I love a good sleek design.
If you already have one, try adding a set of trays to it. I love these golden ones, and if you’re looking for something a little cheaper, check out my Marble Tray DIY post.
As I was writing this post I realized that I’m really into blue, so that’s going to be very interesting when redecorating my place. I’ll show you guys the final results. Now tell me, what are some of your resolutions in decor for 2018?
