Fall Trends to Watch
They say that time flies when you’re having fun. And oh boy, did I have fun this summer. Now this season is almost over and fall is right around the corner, which means that it’s about time for all of us to start looking out for the trends that everyone is going to start wearing in a few weeks and buy some good stuff before the temperatures drop.
This time I want to show you guys some of the trends you should keep an eye out for.
Velvet and Sleepwear
There have been lots of talks on velvet being the fabric of the season, and from what I’ve been seeing out in stores, I’m betting on it as the main trend this fall. As for sleepwear, that was also everywhere last A/W fashion week and one that I’m personally pretty excited about. I’m ready to walk around in fancy PJs. Aren’t you? In this picture I’m wearing a vintage Velvet Robe from Oscar de La Renta Pink Label worn as a dress.
Red, red, red
Red is the biggest color of this fall/winter. You’ll see it in entirely monochromatic looks, or on statement pieces. I found this pair of boots at Forever 21 (which also go with the sock boots trend for this fall) and I’ll be wearing them everywhere.
Fringes, feathers and plums are going to bring all of the fancy back to our upcoming cold days. You’ll see it in dresses, skirts, coats and accessories. Pro tip: pair fringe jackets with boy caps and corduroy bottoms, which two other trends you’ll be seeing everywhere this fall. You can get a similar one here.
Victorian Collars and Sleeve Volume
Statement sleeves are staying for fall and winter! And now they can also be paired with gorgeous Victorian Collars (the fancy sister of the turtleneck). I styled this Forever 21 bell sleeve sweater with a satin long line vest, embroidered boots and pink culottes. Very 70’s, I know.
Comfy is key
This season is going to be a lot about comfort. Think oversized pieces, big shoulders and chunky cozy sweaters. This cold shoulder sweater I got has the perfect amount of coziness and breathability, which makes it great for our not so cold Cali weather. I also love the embroidery on it, because it reminds me of the summer hats everyone was wearing this summer.
Who’s here for florals? I’m here for florals! In all seriousness though, your florals are darker and more moody this season, but they also come on a variety of pieces. From clothes to accessories, printed and embroidered. You can get a similar dress to the first one here.
Americana vibes dominated NYFW A/W 18 and we’re sure to see some American influences everywhere this fall, and they will come in the form of shearling collars, cowboy boots and lots of denim. Major Top Gun vibes. Similar jacket here .
